Joining in Prayer
Joining in Prayer

Sunday morning a few people gathered around the biscuits and fruit for breakfast at the church building. Everyone sharing their experiences and reporting on who else they had talked to. The feel that morning was solemn because any one of those people there could have very easily not made it through the night. As reports that morning came to our attention about looting in the supermarkets people broke down with pity. There was going to be no way that it would be a normal service, there were to many people preoccupied with the suffering of the Chilean people. The morning changed from our normal worship to a time of sharing, singing, praying for one another and communing around the Lord’s table. It was a powerful moment for the church as many shared the need for the church to step-up to being a light to those who are suffering. The message was clear that morning that this is our chance to “Love God and Love our neighbor”. After church people gathered around a talked for a long time before going home.
When we got to the house we ate lunch and began some crafts with the kids. Tae made a blackberry pie for supper and we spent time as a family, something we had needed to do for a long time. Since the electricity is still not on the kids went to bed early and I read for a couple of hours. One thing we are missing in all this is the news.
